COUNSELLING AND CONFIDENTIALITY
What you share with your Guidance Counsellor is private and stays between us. Our discussions are considered confidential, which means what is said stays between us.
However it is important to note that there are a few exceptions to confidentiality in which case I may have to share information we have discussed. These exceptions are:
1. If I suspect abuse or neglect based on what you have told me.
2. If you plan on hurting yourself or hurting someone else.
3. If I am required to by law.
4. If you ask that I tell someone or tell me it is okay to tell someone (for example - a doctor or outside counsellor)
If any of the above situations are true and I have to share information we have discussed, I will make you a part of that process, as much as I possibly can.
